I have finally finished the SPAD combat model . Powered by an AP 15 it flew really well despite a well twisted correx wing:? it trimmed easily. I had to test fly it on a 8x6 prop instead of the 8x4 we have agreed to use ,as its all I had in the box :P. An 8x4 should give it more acceleration and allow the motor to really buzz. The AP15 is excellent and light little engine ,very smooth with lots of power and reliability .The 4oz tank lasted for ages . I blanked off the ends of the wing with some light balsa ribs fixed with copius dollops of evostick  to reduce drag . All up wieght ? I'm guessing about 2 to  2 1/2 lbs . When you have yours finished do put some colour marking on it as half a dozen or so identical black and white things buzzing around could be a bit confusing . looking forward to some inter club dog fights :). Lets see some more at the field and let battle commence :D

It flew great Phil and the little AP performed and looked first class.

Are there any kits left? After seeing it perform I wouldn't mind having a bash myself!!

My spad is almost finished, just need to install the control linkages and install the receiver, I've got some dayglow orange sign vinyl to make it stand out. I've put an apc 8x4 prop on it i had to use a plastic collet from an electric prop to get it to fit the shaft of the asp .15 as the hole was too big, Where do we get the ribbons from?

Hello Glen  The guys at Sadmac use crepe paper as used in decorations for the streamers as they cut easy and any bits that float away degrade quickly . its fixed onto the model with a lenght of fly fishing line leader . I will ask kit were they get theirs from. I flew my spad again yesterday and got some really loud flutter from it  sounded bad . It it was made from balsa I would have lande but the correx is strong and thw flutter made it slow down quite quickly :). I dont know what was fluttering as its all a bit sort of bendy anyway so will try and sort before battle commences :)
