Hi all. I went up the field yesterday for a christmas eve diesel fest . I thought there would be a good turn out on a bright crisp Christmas eve but was wrong :(. Any way i thought Ive got this far so as its only a small plane i'll have a fly( I dont usually fly alone in case of accidents etc) . The tank was filled and the engine primed. First it locked with too much fuel ,so I turned iit over and released the excess fuel ,now just a couple of flicks to loosen the engine up and BANG ! The b***r fired and hit the middle of a very cold fingernail !!!!!!!!. Ouch or words to that effect :). Id forgotten how the cold makes finger nails and tips very sensitive ; and how they throb when your flying and when they warm up . I think the ether in diesel fuel was also used as a pain killer

No pics cos the camera was too difficult to use with painful finger !

Anyone up for a new years day flyin ?

11.00 till 13.00 maybe. No earlier than 11.00 but could be later than 13.00 weather depending.

I managed to get a couple of flights in on Tuesday morning, but it was a bit blustery.

Had the field to myself, for flying (is everyone else that more sensible than me?).

Increasingly looks like indoor flying could be the way forward.

Happy new year to all.

Gary
